Transfers
Moving your domain to us
A transfer moves the registration to Cloudflare Registrar. Free on any plan; $75 on its own, plus the transfer price.
Before we start: can it move yet?
A domain usually can't move within 60 days of registration or of its last transfer (ICANN Transfer Policy). It must be active, and you need access to the current registrar account.
The free checkup shows the creation date, expiry and lock status.

The steps, in order
We copy every DNS record
Website, email and verification records are added to Cloudflare DNS and checked against the live ones.
We switch the nameservers
The nameservers are changed to Cloudflare's. If DNSSEC is on, it's turned off first and back on at the end.
You unlock the domain and get the auth code
At your current registrar, turn off the transfer lock and request the transfer code. We send you the steps.
We start the transfer at Cloudflare
We enter the code and pay the transfer price, which for most endings adds a year. A .com was $10.46 in October 2026.
The old registrar lets it go
Approving the old registrar's email speeds it up. Otherwise it usually completes in about five days.
We lock it down
Transfer lock, DNSSEC and auto-renew on, and your record sheet updated.
During the move
Your website
Records are copied before the nameservers change.
Your email
Email records are copied too; the mailboxes stay where they are.
Your registration
For most endings, the expiry moves out a year.
Transfer questions
How long does a transfer take?
Usually from a few minutes to about five days for the registrar step.
Will my website or email go down?
Records are copied and checked first to avoid that, but we can't rule out problems at the old registrar or host.
My domain was registered last month. Can it move?
Not yet. We can manage it where it is until it's 60 days old.
Does the domain stay in my name?
Yes. We only change the registrant if you ask.
Can I move it away again later?
Yes, 60 days after the transfer. Ask and we send the code.
Ready to move a domain?
Send us the domain name and where it's registered now.
